Jared Tomich: Founder and Head Coach

Jared Tomich, Owner of Fuel Fitness and founder of Ignite Sports Performance Centers, has been involved with sports and fitness his entire life. He played football for the Lake Central Indians lettering and making all state honors before walking on at the University of Nebraska where he received his Bachelors Degree and was named twice as an All-American as well as being part of two National Championship Teams and Captain of the Husker’s in his senior season. Tomich then became a professional football player in the 1997 NFL draft becoming coach Ditka’s 2nd round pick to the New Orleans Saints. After playing four years with the Saints, Jared went on for two years with Green Bay Packers and finally finishing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jared’s extensive knowledge in martial arts and proball allowed him the opportunity to be hired by the Miami Dolphins and Nebraska Huskers to train their 2009-2010 team in the art of combat football. At the end of his NFL career Jared wanted to share his passion and knowledge with the community he grew up in. He returned home to open his family focused gym, Fuel Fitness, in 2007. Once established, he continued to grow his passion by opening Ignite Sports Performance which is dedicated to teaching young athletes the fundamental conditioning skills, mentorship and dedication that it takes to get the most out of your sport. Since Ignite began in 2008, Jared has grown the program to two successful locations in Highland, Merrillville as well as an up and coming location in Cedar Lake.
